Make Your Own Eye Cream

Not every cream is suitable to be applied to the eye, because some creams “wander” under the skin and get into the eye, where they can irritate the mucous membranes.

Make your own eye cream

The skin around our eyes is particularly thin and sensitive. It therefore needs special, delicate care. Did you know you can make  your own eye cream ?

If the skin is too dry, small wrinkles from dryness quickly appear because the skin around the eyes can hardly store moisture itself.

Not every cream is suitable to be applied to the eye, because some creams “migrate” under the skin and get into the eye, where they can irritate the mucous membranes. If you make your own eye cream , you’ll know exactly what’s in it!

Wash your hands

Hygiene!

If you make your own eye cream, you can be sure that it does not contain any chemical fragrances or preservatives that can irritate the delicate area around the eyes. But that also means that you have to be particularly hygienic with the homemade cream.

You should always keep them in the refrigerator and only touch the contents with freshly washed fingers so as not to bring any germs into the cream.

Anyone who brings germs into the eye cream due to a lack of hygiene is not doing their skin any good, but quickly catches an eye infection that has nothing to do with beauty.

Therefore, make sure that all vessels and tools that you need for this are absolutely clean during production, preferably boiled with boiling water or rinsed in the dishwasher on the hottest washing program.

If you “boil out” things without a dishwasher, use kitchen paper to dry them off, it is more hygienic than a kitchen towel.

oil

Ingredients to make your own eye cream

Creams that you buy ready-made from drug stores are a mixture of oil and water. It’s like a salad sauce: you can combine salad oil and vinegar by stirring vigorously – if you wait a while, the oil will separate from the vinegar.

Therefore, creams contain emulsifiers. You can get this in the pharmacy. If you are still interested in the topic of making cosmetics yourself, you will not get around it.

Our recipes today, however, all do without emulsifiers. You should make sure that the ingredients are fresh. Oils can go rancid and then irritate the delicate skin of the eyes.

If you find ingredients in organic quality, the better! So you can be sure that there are no harmful pesticide residues in the care product!

Coconut oil

Make your own cocoa butter eye cream

This cream is particularly rich and it is best to use it overnight so that, like a mask, it has time to intensely pamper the skin around your eyes.

Ideal for dry skin or in winter with dry heating air or cold air with snow and ice! You need:

  • vaseline
  • Coconut oil
  • Cocoa butter

Put the same amount of each ingredient (e.g. a teaspoon of each) in a heat-resistant glass and put it in the microwave. Gently heat it for just 10 seconds and stir the mixture well. If it is not yet liquid enough, heat again for 10 seconds.

Mix well and pour into a clean, sealable container and allow to cool. Cocoa butter and coconut oil are solid at room temperature, and even more solid in the refrigerator, so the cream melts around your eyes like butter.

First, take a little cream and try out how it melts nourishingly on your skin!

Oils

Eye oil – make your own eye cream

A delicate oil for the delicate eye area is especially good in the evening when you prepare the skin for its regeneration during the night. Chamomile has a calming effect and rose smells heavenly and sensual! You need:

  • Jojoba oil
  • Rose oil
  • Chamomile oil

Please make absolutely sure that the oils are pure oils and not only smell of the flowers! The best thing to do is to go to the pharmacy. Scented oils are chemically flavored and have nothing to do with nature and the natural active ingredients!

Take 30ml jojoba oil and mix it with 5 drops of chamomile oil. Then carefully flavor it with 3-5 drops of rose oil. Instead of chamomile oil, you can also use carrot oil or sea buckthorn oil, both of which have antioxidant effects and should help against wrinkles.

It is best to fill the oil into a bottle with a pipette from the pharmacy. You can drizzle the oil from the bottle onto a cotton ball and use it to remove make-up or apply it for care and gently pat it into the area around the eyes.

Aloe Vera (3)

Aloe vera gel – make your own eye cream

Aloe Vera itself has a great caring effect on the skin. Especially for the eye area, you can mix it with soothing plant extracts such as chamomile tea, witch hazel water, cucumber juice or eyebright.

To do this, take a small amount of pure aloe vera gel and carefully stir in the other ingredients. It is best to never make more of this gel than you can use within 24 hours. Always keep in the refrigerator!
