Unpleasant foot odor cannot always be prevented, but there are remedies that are very useful. For example the  foot deodorant that  we are introducing to you today. You can easily make it yourself.

Closed-toe shoes that are not breathable, excessive sweating, and other factors can lead to foot odor. Poor hygiene is not always responsible for this.

Learn to make  foot deodorant yourself in order to fight the causative bacteria that spread unpleasant odors, especially when  combined with sweat.

How can you make a foot deodorant yourself?

Many people use talcum powder on their feet, but it can still smell bad.

Talc is a layered silicate that is very popular for certain skin complaints.

However, there may be discomfort if the powder is inhaled. In the long term, acute or chronic lung irritation or talcosis could develop.

Excessive and long-term use of this mineral on the skin can also have health consequences.

However, if you only use talc in small amounts every now and then, you usually don’t need to worry.

Today, however, we recommend a talc-free foot deodorant  that works effectively and can be made very easily and quickly. In this recipe we use corn flour or starch (Maizena) as an alternative, which is also very effective.

What ingredients do I need to make the foot deodorant?

Tea tree oil for foot deodorant
  • 25 g corn starch (Maizena)
  • 15 g baking soda
  • 3 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil

As you can see, the ingredients are readily available. The tea tree oil, which you can buy in health food stores or in pharmacies, is very important.

Tea tree oil is widely used in naturopathy because it:

  • the best natural disinfectant and therefore extremely effective against bacteria, fungi and viruses.
  • It also has a strong  anti-inflammatory effect   and is ideal as a deodorant.

If you have sensitive skin, you can mix the tea tree oil with 5 drops of water.

Soda is also perfect for our foot deodorant: effective, inexpensive and without side effects.

The only product that is likely to surprise you here is cornstarch or cornmeal. It works in a similar way to talcum powder:  it absorbs and reduces odor.

Cornmeal can also be used very well to make dry shampoo as it absorbs the oil on the hair.

Lavender oil relaxes the muscles  and is very pleasant after a hard day’s work.
