Which Haircut Suits My Face Shape?

There may be a particular hairstyle you like, but you should also consider the shape of your face to make sure that your next visit to the hairdresser is a success!

Which haircut suits my face shape?

With a new haircut, we can change the external appearance significantly, achieve a completely different style and appear fresh and renewed. But  which hairstyle suits you?

However, the shape of the face should also be taken into account so that the desired result is actually spectacular.

Many a stylist does a wonderful job here, but often you choose the wrong haircut that  doesn’t suit your face or hair type and therefore leads to dissatisfaction.

There are very simple tips to find out which hairstyle works best for which face shape.

The French Claude Juillard coined the term “Visagisme”, which refers to the analysis of face shape and expression in order to adapt the haircut individually to each person.

Round face

Round faces are usually  characterized by a small chin and round cheeks. So that the face looks a little longer, you then adjust the hairstyle accordingly.

We recommend volume in the upper area,  shorter side hair and long forehead fringes, which are coiffed from the side.

A hair length at chin level is not recommended, as this only makes the face appear rounder.

If you choose short hair,  the hair on the side should be cut a little longer at the height of the ears.

When you tie the hair together, you can pull out a few strands from the sides to make the shape of the face appear longer.

Oval face

An oval face shape is considered an ideal canon of beauty, which has the advantage that almost all styles look great.

The forehead is slightly wider than the chin and, together with the jaw and cheeks, almost forms a circle.

In this case, the forehead fringes should not be too long and cut straight to emphasize the ideal shape.

A middle parting and  a bit of volume help create a natural, loose and minimalist appearance.

For the daring, the “Mohawk” style is recommended: very short hair, lying on the side and styled up in the middle.

Angular face

The contours are angular in this case and  the face is also a bit wider and gives a tougher impression. In this case, a hairstyle should be chosen that allows for smoother facial features.

Women with long hair can let a few highlights and curls fall sideways on the face to hide the angular contour.

Shoulder-length or slightly shorter hair is best. The hair should not end with the chin, however,  as this would make the face look too wide.

Asymmetrical hairstyles look great, a little longer on one side than the other and with wide forehead fringes.

What haircut goes well with an elongated face

Women with an elongated face can choose a naturally falling haircut that makes the face look a little wider.

Elongated facial features that are not too angular can be shortened a bit with  forehead fringes and a shoulder-length and shorter haircut.

The hair should not fall on the face, otherwise it will appear thinner and longer. Instead, a layered cut, curls or waves are recommended.
Hairstyles with long layers shorten the face and  add volume to the sides.
If you don’t have curls, a chin-length haircut (not shorter!) Looks great.

Heart-shaped face

A heart-shaped face is  wider at the forehead and then narrows towards the chin,  like a triangle.

Side brow fringes are recommended  to cover the broad forehead a little.

In addition, long steps that start under the cheeks and a middle or side parting look great.

Short haircuts (shorter than the chin) should be avoided,  as this will make the upper part of the face look wider.

These are just a few recommendations, but of course every face is different and there are numerous haircuts that can be adapted to different face shapes.

Your hairdresser or stylist can safely advise you  which haircut best suits your face and your character.
