The Effect Of The Colors In Our Rooms

To encourage creativity in the workplace, the walls in the office can be painted yellow or orange. Green decoration provides a pleasant balance.

The effect of the colors in our rooms

It has always been known that colors can have a certain effect on people. Color therapy, or chromotherapy, is still used today and is increasingly used, especially for mental illnesses, but also for physical illnesses.

But we also encounter it in everyday life: for example when shopping in the supermarket.

If the shop is well designed, the different areas for cosmetics, fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese and bread are kept in different colors in order to make the products work better and to create a positive (buying) mood in us.

And it works! You can also use this technique for your own four walls to increase your well-being!

Which colors work how?

In order to decide in which colors to paint which areas of your home, you of course first have to know how the respective colors look.

kitchen

White

… is a neutral color that is supposed to promote sobriety, purity and clarity. The ideal color for the kitchen as it also symbolizes cleanliness.

In the work areas of the kitchen, white tones should predominate – with a few splashes of color in yellow and green, because yellow also promotes sociability and green refreshes – especially in the morning at breakfast.

It is not uncommon for the kitchen to be the place where you spend most of your time with guests. Even if the living room was intended for it …

red

… has a stimulating, activating invigorating effect, awakens strength, increases self-esteem, stimulates the appetite and makes you vital and dynamic. Red shades are therefore a good idea for the dining room and part of the study.

In office buildings, the cafe kitchen should be painted in shades of red in order to have a revitalizing effect and to encourage the exchange of ideas among colleagues. If you are extremely nervous or irritable, you should avoid using the color red, as it increases these conditions.

dining room

orange

… has a constructive and performance-enhancing effect, stimulating and encouraging, promotes joy, lightness, letting go and enjoyment. Orange awakens the joy of working, radiates warmth, whets the appetite and also promotes sociability.

Orange tones make it easier for those who are grumpy in the morning to get up early. Because orange tones increase the joy of working, this color family should not be missing in any study or office. Orange should also appear in the bedroom so that you can get out of bed in the morning.

yellow

… has an encouraging and nerve-strengthening effect, promotes concentration and eagerness to learn and supports all intellectual activities. Yellow strengthens the nerves, brings sun into the soul and scares away a gloomy mood.

An ideal color for all rooms in which one is sociable: i.e. the living room, often also the kitchen or common rooms such as a library or lounge. In hospitals, too, the color yellow helps to create a more positive mood.

green

… is hope and helps to bring body and soul into balance. Green has a regenerating and harmonizing effect, promotes calm, has a refreshing, relaxing and vitalising effect and thereby also improves judgment.

Green shades calm the nerves, strengthen the senses and concentration, promote balance and dampen fear. Green colors bring a lot of harmony into life.

The refreshing and revitalizing effect makes green virtually predestined for bathrooms and shower cubicles!

Even if your bathroom is rather white, which symbolizes cleanliness, make sure to include lots of green accents. Green towels, bathroom rugs, shower rugs or plants, for example!

bedroom

blue

… harmonizes and calms, has a relaxing, releasing and relaxed effect after a hectic day. A facility in shades of blue lets you fall asleep easily, brings you into a dreamy mood, but also promotes communication, objectivity and precision of thought.

Therefore, while blue is not a bad color for the bedroom, it should be combined with warm tones such as brown or orange. Brown brings warmth and comfort to the room and orange helps us to get up refreshed in the morning.

You don’t want to completely repaint your apartment now that you have read how which colors affect our psyche? It doesn’t matter!

Sort all your accessories and decorative items such as cushion covers, curtains, flower pots, candlesticks, pictures and picture frames, tablecloths, lamps, carpets, towels and other items by color and then reassign them to the appropriate rooms.

Some textiles can be dyed cheaply in the washing machine with textile dye without having to buy new ones. Folder backs and storage boxes can be quickly wrapped with gift or cabinet paper and thus easily and cheaply changed in color.

It is usually just a question of rearranging and redecorating and you will feel the positive effect of the colors on you!
