This recipe is quick to prepare and is therefore perfect for those days when you come home late and have to cook something quickly. If you can’t get fresh tuna, you can also use canned tuna  (not in oil, but in its own, natural juice).

If you wish, you can gratinate the macaroni, it tastes particularly delicious!

Ingredients for macaroni with tuna

  • 2 cups macaroni (220 g)
  • 2 cups of water (500 ml)
  • 1 can of tuna or 2 cups of fresh tuna (240 g)
  • 2 onions
  • 4 tomatoes
  • ½ red pepper
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of pitted olives (15 g)
  • ½ tablespoon saffron or food coloring (8 g)
  • ½ can of tomato sauce (150 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of salt (15 g)
  • ½ tablespoon pepper (8 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil (15 ml)

This pasta dish tastes particularly delicious when gratinated!
  • First you have all the utensils you need ready so that the preparation can take place quickly.
  • Chop the onions and red peppers very small. 
  • Then fry them in a pan with a little olive oil at medium temperature until golden brown.
  • Chop the garlic in the mortar and add it to the pan as well. Then stir all the ingredients and let them cook until tender.
  • Then you cut the tomatoes and add them. Stir and  let them cook until they crumble.
  • Then you add the tomato sauce and the pepper to the pan.
  • Add the tuna and olives too. Stir everything well, cover the pan and let everything simmer for 5 minutes.
  • At the same time, set up a saucepan with water and salt to cook the macaroni for 5 to 10 minutes. As soon as they are al dente, remove the water and let the pasta cool down a bit.
  • Finally, mix the pasta with the sauce. If desired, you can gratinate this dish with cheese for 2 minutes in the oven or microwave.
